You are creating a Google Account with an email address you already own, but Google's verification email has not arrived. The code goes to that *existing non-Gmail mailbox*, not to a new Gmail inbox. Google's verification guide says you cannot complete this type of account without verifying the address. If you are waiting for a phone text during *Gmail* signup, use the phone-code guidance instead; these are different checks.

Check the inbox Google actually used

  1. 1Read the address shown in Google's signup flow and open that mailbox at its original provider.
  2. 2Search inbox, spam, and bulk folders for Google's verification message. Check filters or blocked senders if your provider offers them.
  3. 3If no message appears, add `account-verification-noreply@google.com` to that mailbox's contacts, as Google advises.
  4. 4Sign in to your Google Account and use the 'Account verification needed' prompt to request a new verification email.
  5. 5Use the newest message and enter its code only on the Google page you opened yourself.

Google's screen labels may change, but the official help page describes the resend path. Repeatedly refreshing your existing mailbox does not fix a misspelled registration address. If you cannot sign in and suspect a typo, use the correct email address in Google's official account-creation flow. Our guide to creating a Google Account with an existing email covers the full setup, while this page focuses on a missing verification message.

Google recommends copying the entire link into your browser address bar if clicking it fails. If it has expired, request another verification email from your Google Account. Do not paste a verification code into a third-party form, and do not send it to someone promising a shortcut. Check that the page where you enter it belongs to Google.

Do not confuse email verification with other Google codes

A code sent to a non-Gmail address confirms that you control that address for a Google login. It does not create a new @gmail.com mailbox, and it is not the same as SMS or voice verification during Gmail signup. For new, separate Gmail inboxes, the Gmail Creator explains MailCreator's workflow; provider verification still applies. For the conceptual difference, see Google Account vs Gmail Account.
